15-24 years old versus 5-14 years old:  During the recent five year period 2013-2017, Michigan had significant increase in crude death for persons aged aged 15-24 years old, compared to earlier age group age 5-14 years old, we see a 485% increase in crude death for persons aged 15-24 years old, compared to earlier age group age 5-14 years old.  There were 4,204 more crude deaths age 15-24 year old age versus the age 5-14 year old age group.  Calculation for percent change is ((New Value - Old Value) / Old Value)*100 = ((Age 15-24 year old Crude deaths - Age 5-14 year old Crude deaths)/Age 5-14 year old Crude deaths)*100 = (5070 - 866/866 = 485% increases in Crude deaths for persons aged 15-24 years old compared to earlier age group age 5-14 years old.

25-34 years old versus 15-24 years old:   In the following age group, ages 25-34 years old had significant 71% increase in crude death compared to earlier age group, age 15-24 years old, there were 3,592 more deaths ages 25-34 years old age group versus ages 15-24 years old age group.

Note: It is not normal for a young healthy age group ages 25-34 years old to have a significant death increase! Normally this age group goes up or down a point or two, it should go down considering all the technology and safety electronics we have. A 20.3 death rate point increase is a horrific change in young deaths, in the recent five year period, compared to the prior five year period, it is a significant change in deaths for a young healthy age group ages 25-34 years old.  To better understand this significance, a future report will look at mind-altering substances deaths for this population in the same period.

    This is a crude death report, a crude death report includes ALL deaths for a specified population and period, thus this report includes sickness, accidents, violence and all mind-altering substance deaths, not just opiates. It includes deaths related to poisons, such as opiates, narcotics, marijuana/cannabinoids, vaping, alcohol, meth, sedatives, benzodiazepines, tranquilizers, xanax, stimulants, cocaine, hallucinogens, tobacco and other mind-altering substances, it also includes deaths related to accidents, violence and sickness, etc, all deaths are included in this report.

    When a person is suffering from a physical addiction “unrecovered" (without protected recovery and support), a person sometimes reaches for another mind-altering substance to deal with hard withdraw, as such, addiction increases. Substances have increased in variety and poisonous strength. Marijuana has increased in potency and poisonous addictive strength. Young people are especially vulnerable to addictive mind-altering-substances, they need encouragement and support to reach recovery and the young ones need to hear the truth about mind-altering substances to avoid the misery of addiction.

    This report includes all deaths, crude death is a measure of all death for a specified period and age group.
